In a shocking incident, a constable from the Bareipali police station in Odisha's Sambalpur has been arrested on charges of attempting to rape a minor tribal girl.
The accused, identified as Biranchi Munda, reportedly deceived the victim on the pretext of taking her to visit the popular Sital Sasthi festival and tried to rape her.
The matter came to the fore after the victim narrated her ordeal to her parents, who then lodged a formal complaint with the police.
