Bhubaneswar, Sept. 23 -- Bhubaneswar: The surge in COVID-19 cases continued in Odisha with 4237 new positives reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total count of coronavirus infections to 192548. While 2485 cases were detected in quarantine, 1752 are local contacts, informed State I&PR department.

The death toll has mounted to 736 as 15 more patients succumbed to the virus on Tuesday, the highest so far in a single day.

Four patients have succumbed to the disease in Bhubaneswar, while two deaths were reported in Puri district and one each in Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Nuapada districts.
