Bhubaneswar, Jan. 12 -- Odisha on Wednesday recorded 8,778 infections, including 792 cases in the 0-18 years category, as per the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

This is the biggest one-day spike in the last seven months. The State had breached 8000-mark on June 3 last year when it recorded 8,839 infections in a day.

Out of the total cases, 5,096 were detected in quarantine while 3,682 are local contact cases, I&PR department.
