Serious allegations of domestic violence have surfaced against a police officer in Jagatsinghpur district. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amit Padhi, who was posted at Jagatsinghpur Sadar Police Station, is accused of mentally and physically torturing his minor wife, whom he had reportedly married after a relationship developed through Facebook.
Sources said the ASI married the girl, a native of Jagatsinghpur, a few months ago despite her being a minor.
