A tragic incident in Odisha's Bolangir district raised alarm over dowry-related violence, after the death of a nurse, identified as Beena, also known as Krishna Sahu. The woman's family alleged on Friday that Beena was killed by her in-laws over persistent dowry demands.
Beena's husband, Alok Sahu, has been taken into police custody for questioning. The couple married in 2022 and lived in Nehanabandha village. Beena had been working at Padampur hospital in Bargarh, and she left behind a young child.
