India, Feb. 7 -- A man in Odisha's Bhadrak had to be hospitalised after he was allegedly subjected to third-degree torture by the Town Police. The serious incident has put the local police under scrutiny after the man's wife accused eight to nine police personnel of excessive force in handling a domestic dispute.

According to sources, the incident occurred on February 5. The man identified as Jiban Jena in a drunken state was allegedly engaged in a brawl with his wife. On being informed, a female constable reached the spot and tried to intervene.
