What was meant to be a day of joy and celebration turned into a day of deep sorrow for a family in Mangalpur village, Balasore district, after a tragic road accident claimed the life of a father who had gone to buy a birthday cake for his daughter.
According to sources, Umakanta Padhi, a resident of Mangalpur, had gone to Soro Bazaar on Monday evening to purchase a cake for his young daughter's birthday celebrations. However, while returning home, tragedy struck. A speeding truck reportedly hit him midway, leaving him critically injured. Padhi succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
