Bhubaneswar, June 21 -- The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry today approved an increase of 100 MBBS seats under Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota in several medical college and hospitals in Odisha.

Earlier, the Odisha government had decided to implement 10% EWS quota in medical institutions from this academic session. Following the increase, the seat capacity at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada will be 125, up from existing 100 seats. Similarly, the intake at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput has also gone up to 125 from 100 seats.
