The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its earlier monthly outlook had predicted above normal maximum temperatures over most parts of the country, except parts of southern peninsular India, and some parts of east India.
Already several states are experiencing an intense spell of heat wave for the past couple of days. In its earlier monthly outlook for May, the IMD has predicted that above normal heat wave days are likely over many parts of the northwest and central India and adjoining east India.
