Bhubaneswar, Oct. 14 -- Tight security arrangements have been put in place in Nuapada as the nomination process for the by-election began on Monday. The district administration has intensified vigilance to ensure a smooth and peaceful poll.

As per reports, to facilitate a secure electoral environment, a joint meeting was held between police officers of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Officials and SDPOs from Bagbahara, Mahasamund, and Gariaband areas of Chhattisgarh, which share borders with Nuapada, attended the meeting along with IICs and SDPOs from the neighbouring districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, and Bargarh. The discussion focused on border security measures, Maoist control, and the exchange of intelligence between the two states.
