The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of a disturbing incident involving the alleged abuse of two Dalit men in Ganjam district of Odisha.
The rights panel has issued notices to the Odisha Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP), directing them to submit a detailed report within two weeks.
The NHRC has also asked to mention the actions taken against those responsible for the assault, as well as any compensation provided to the victims in the report.
