Orissa, Oct. 5 -- In a major crackdown on illegal activities inside prisons, police on Sunday carried out surprise raids at the Bargarh District Jail and Padampur and Sohela Sub-Jails. The operation was conducted following the directive of Bargarh Superintendent of Police (SP) after reports of illegal items being smuggled into the jail premises.
According to sources, multiple police teams were formed and deployed simultaneously across the three facilities early in the morning. The raids were aimed at curbing the alleged inflow of narcotics and other prohibited materials inside the jails.
