India, Dec. 20 -- Bank and postal deposits worth Rs 67 lakh were detected during a Vigilance raid at the residence of Rajendra Kumar Samantaray, a Forest Ranger posted at Rahama in Jagatsinghpur district. The raid was conducted on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Furthermore, officials traced two plots of land in Jagatsinghpur town and one plot on the outskirts of Cuttack. In addition, a three-storey building and a two-storey building in Jagatsinghpur were also detected. The Vigilance team further recovered Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and approximately 200 grams of gold ornaments from the premises. A four-wheeler and two two-wheelers were also seized as part of the raid.
