In a shocking misuse of public property, a Mission Shakti kendra built with government funds in Rengali panchayat of Odisha's Angul district has allegedly been rented out and converted into a junkyard (Kabadi godown). Allegations suggest manipulation and illegal occupation by the members of a self-help group (SHG).
According to sources, the Mission Shakti centre previously constructed under the ambitious 'Ama Gaon Ama Bikash' scheme in Kaniha block of the district was found to be functioning as a junkyard rather than serving its intended purpose of empowering women through self-help group (SHG) activities.
