Bhubaneswar, Jan. 11 -- A minor was injured after being struck by a pellet from an air gun during a practice session in Rasnapur village under Mirgamunda area of Sambalpur Sadar police station limits on Sunday. The incident caused panic in the locality, following which the injured child was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to police sources, a youth was practising with an air gun when the minor suddenly came in front of him and sustained injuries. The pellet reportedly hit the child near the right armpit. The exact circumstances under which the air gun was fired are yet to be ascertained, and police said the sequence of events leading to the incident is under investigation.
