Bhubaneswar, Dec. 16 -- A minor girl was allegedly abducted and taken to another state to be married off to an elderly man, according to a complaint filed at the Bhadrak Rural Police Station on Tuesday.

The accused reportedly tied the girl's hands and legs and thrashed her when she refused to agree to the marriage, before abandoning her on the roadside.

As per the complaint, a woman had called the minor to her house and subsequently abducted her. She was then taken by train to another state, where she was allegedly pressured to marry an elderly man.
