Bhubaneswar, Oct. 22 -- A major fire broke out in the Unit-1 vegetable market area of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday afternoon, gutting around 15 to 20 shops. Thick smoke and flames quickly engulfed the market section, causing panic among local vendors and residents.
Upon receiving the alert, as many as 11 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. In a prolonged firefighting operation, the blaze was being brought under control.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. However, the loss of property is expected to be significant. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is currently underway.
Authorities are assessing the damage and ensuring support to affected shop owners.
