Bhubaneswar, Jan. 8 -- To manage the heavy passenger rush during the Makar Sankranti festival season, the South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the operation of around 150 special trains across key routes, primarily serving Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The move is aimed at easing congestion, clearing waitlists and ensuring smoother travel for passengers during one of the busiest periods of the year.
Makar Sankranti traditionally witnesses a sharp surge in travel as people return home and visit major pilgrimage centres. Keeping this in view, SCR has planned additional services connecting various destinations within the two Telugu states, while also operating special trains to the northern, eastern and southern parts of the country....
