A low-pressure area has formed over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, off the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.

The system is likely to move in a west-northwest direction, intensifying into a well-marked low-pressure area within 24 hours, before crossing north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha over the next 48 hours.

Under its influence, several Odisha districts are likely to experience widespread rainfall from Wednesday, with the IMD issuing a three-day heavy rain warning.
