A foreign-liquor outlet in Gadadeulia village, under Baisinga police limits, was burgled late on Friday night, with thieves making off with stock valued at more than Rs 9 lakh. The gang broke open nine heavy locks on the shop's front shutter and iron grill before carting away dozens of cases of premium spirits.

Owner Sarbeshwar Das told police that the manager and staff had shut the shop as usual after completing their shift last night. When employees returned on Saturday morning, they found the shutter hanging loose, its padlocks sheared, and shelves stripped nearly bare.
