Bhubaneswar, Dec. 4 -- Lightning strikes have claimed 92 lives in Odisha so far during the current year, the Revenue Minister reported in a written reply to the State Assembly on Thursday.
According to the minister, four deaths occurred during floods and another four during nor'wester storms. The districts most affected by lightning include Bargarh (10 deaths), Koraput (8 deaths), and Angul (7 deaths).
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms and advised avoiding open fields, tall trees, and water bodies during heavy rain and lightning.
