Bhubaneswar, April 20 -- Odisha government suspended Kendrapara district Excise Superintendent, Debi Prasad Mishra for dereliction of duty on Friday. Action against Mishra has been taken for allegedly demanding bribe in the name of a specific politician's name.

In a letter, the Excise Department informed that the Governor of Odisha, in the exercise of the power conferred by clause (a) of sub-rule (1) of Rule 12 of the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962 has suspended Mishra.

Sources said Kendrapara Tehsildar, Tapas Dehury will be the Excise Superintendent in-charge till the appointment of a new Excise Superintendent.
