Odisha is emerging as a frontrunner for a proposed mega steel project, with Indian major JSW Steel and South Korea's POSCO Group signing a non-binding Heads of Agreement (HoA) to jointly explore setting up a 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant in India.

The companies have indicated that Odisha is among the prime locations being considered, given its abundant mineral resources, coal linkages, and port connectivity. A detailed feasibility study will determine the exact site, investment framework, and resource availability, stated a statement released by JSW Steel on Monday.
