An injured tusker has been spotted roaming in the Atei forest near Kolimati in Keonjhar district, triggering concern among local residents and wildlife officials. The elephant, believed to have been attacked by poachers using a sharp weapon or arrow, is currently in a distressed condition, forest officials said.

Locals from Nuapada area, under the Kolimati forest range, first reported sightings of the tusker limping and moving slowly through the jungle. Preliminary investigation by the forest department suggests that unidentified miscreants had injured the elephant several days ago, possibly in a poaching attempt.
