Bhubaneswar, Feb. 22 -- The Indian Coast Guard has inaugurated 'Operation Olivia', a comprehensive initiative aimed at safeguarding the vulnerable olive ridley turtles during their crucial nesting period, in Odisha's Paradip. The initiative aims at constant monitoring of the waters using drones, Coast Guard vessels, and Dornier aircraft, to prevent any alien intruders into the riverbeds where the turtles are laying their eggs.
The operation deploys fast patrol vessels, Dornier aircraft, and interceptor crafts for round-the-clock surveillance. The operation also enforces bans on illegal trawling under the Orissa Marine Fisheries Act.
