Bhubaneswar, Feb. 2 -- Former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri issued a stern warning to promising batter Shubman Gill after his dismal show in the first innings of the second Test against England in Vishakapatnam on Friday.

Gill made all the hard work and showed flashes of his brilliance by scoring 34 from just 46 deliveries. However, he missed out on a big score as he was dismissed just before the lunch break.

Gill got out when he played a hesitant stroke to a delivery from James Anderson outside the off-stump. Thus an outside edge was induced, which was brilliantly caught by Ben Foakes with a diving effort.
