Bhubaneswar, March 4 -- Bhubaneswar: Many parts of Odisha experienced a little respite from the scorching heat on Wednesday. A number of places where the mercury level crossed or approached nearly 40 degree Celsius came down slightly by two to three degrees.

Sundargarh, Malkangiri and Rayagada turned out to be the hottest places in the state recording 38.8 degree Celsius each, while Angul closely followed with 37.1 degree and Bhubaneswar at 37 degree Celsius, the IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre here said.

Paralakhemundi witnessed the lowest of 31 degree Celsius while Cuttack recorded 36.5 degree Celsius, it said.
