Bhubaneswar, Jan. 9 -- Excise Department officials were allegedly attacked while conducting a raid on suspected illegal liquor trade in Kalahandi district on Thursday.

The altercation occurred in Kanarla village under Bhatangapadar Panchayat in the district. As per reports, some residents of the village allegedly vandalised government vehicles and assaulted some personnel of the Excise Department by chasing them during the raid.

As many as two constables were injured in the process. They have been admitted to Bhawanipatna Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment (till the last report came in).

An official complaint regarding the incident has been filed by the Excise Department at the Bhawanipatna Sadar police station.
