Similipal in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district has been experiencing relentless rainfall, triggering a rise in river water levels and prompting authorities to take precautionary measures. With continuous downpours in the upper catchment areas, the situation has turned critical at Kal Dam, located under Kaptipada block.

Officials confirmed that the water level in Kal Dam has risen sharply, touching the danger mark of 77.7 cubic meter. In response, dam authorities have opened one gate to manage the inflow and maintain structural safety. Reports indicate that while 17 cusec of water is entering the dam, the outflow stands at 21 cusec.
