A heatwave alert was issued for parts of Odisha on Thursday, with the mercury crossing 40 degrees Celsius in many places, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).The IMD has predicted that severe heat waves,humid, and warm night conditions are very likely over the districts of Odisha from April 23 to 26th April 2025.

The mercury crossed 45 degrees Celsius in Jharsuguda on Wednesday, while the temperature remained above 44degC in more than seven cities. An 'Orange' alert, notifying people to be prepared to take action, was issued for Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, and Bargarh districts.
