Bhubaneswar, Nov. 30 -- A devastating road accident unfolded near Thirupathur in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, leaving at least seven people feared dead and around 40 others injured, officials confirmed. The head-on collision involved two government buses and created scenes of panic and chaos along the busy route.

According to police, one of the buses was travelling towards Karaikudi, while the other was heading to Madurai when they collided on a narrow stretch of road. The impact was so powerful that several passengers became trapped inside the mangled remains of the vehicles.
