A fresh cyclonic circulation has developed over the northeast Bay of Bengal and is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Tuesday. Under its influence, rainfall activity across Odisha is likely to increase in the coming days.

While many districts are already experiencing scattered showers, the IMD has forecast widespread rain across the state for the next five days. In the next 24 hours, five southern districts- Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri, are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
