Bhubaneswar, Feb. 1 -- Five saltwater crocodiles died at Nandankanan Zoological Park in Odisha's Bhubaneswar over a span of eight days, prompting authorities to initiate a detailed investigation into the cause of death.

The fatalities were reported between January 23 and January 30, with officials stating that the exact reason will be known only after laboratory test reports are received.

According to officials, a total of five saltwater crocodiles died at the zoo during the period under review. Of the deceased reptiles, three were males and two were females.

The deaths occurred at different intervals, raising concerns among wildlife authorities and prompting immediate veterinary intervention.
