In a move set to redefine passenger convenience, Visakhapatnam railway station has unveiled its first-ever 'sleeping pod' facility, a capsule hotel concept that caters to transit passengers, solo women travellers, and tourists. This is the first facility of its kind in the East Coast Railway (ECoR) zone and is designed to meet the growing demand for affordable, short-stay accommodations at the busy station.
According to The Hindu, Waltair Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lalit Bohra inaugurated the facility on Thursday, describing it as a pilot project inspired by similar setups in major metropolitan cities.
