Bhubaneswar, April 23 -- Former Sambalpur MLA Raseswari Panigrahi snapped ties with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) by resigning from the primary membership of the ruling party on Tuesday.

Raseswari sent her resignation letter to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik today. The development came after BJD announced Rohit Pujari as the party candidate from Sambalpur.

"I hereby resign from the primary membership of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and all post (s) of the party assigned to me on 23 April 2024 afternoon. This is for favour of your information and necessary action," read Raseswari's letter.

Later, Raseswari said that she left BJD for the pride and self-respect of Sambalpur.
