A lone tusker from a herd of wild elephants had got trapped in Brahmani River of Dhenkanal district due to a sudden rise in water levels and strong currents. However, the elephant eventually made it out safely after struggling for hours on Monday, forest officials confirmed.

According to official sources, the wild pachyderm had got stranded in Brahmani River near Dihadol Forest Section under Dhenkanal Division after a sudden surge in water levels early in the morning. The jumbo, separated from a 40-member herd, was caught in strong currents, raising concern among forest officials and locals.
