Today marks the final Monday of the auspicious Sawan month, a day of immense religious significance for devotees of Lord Shiva. The scenes were no different in Odisha as well. All around, the air reverberated with chants of 'Bol Bam' and 'Har Har Bam', as the faithful pour into Shaivite temples, carrying sacred water to offer to their beloved Bhole Baba.
The spiritual fervour is most visible on the roads and in temple towns, as thousands of 'Kawadias', dressed in saffron and carrying decorated bamboo canes (kawads) filled with holy water, make their way to Shiva temples.
