In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday apprehended Deputy Ranger Asit Pattnayakof Bisra Range in Sundargarh district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 18,000. The officer was caught red-handed while taking the illegal gratification from a vehicle owner to release hire charges of his vehicle pre-engaged for official purposes, the Vigilance officials said in a statement.Subsequently, a coordinated series of raids was launched at multiple locations linked to him.
