Bhubaneswar, Nov. 25 -- A well-marked low-pressure system over the South Andaman Sea intensified into a Depression and is likely to move in a west-northwest direction, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.

The weather system is expected to strengthen further into a Deep Depression within the next 24 hours and may even develop into a cyclonic storm over the following day as it continues its west-northwestward trajectory.

However, the weather agency has clarified that the system will not have any direct impact on Odisha. As a result, the State is expected to remain mostly dry for the next seven days, though cloudy conditions may appear at isolated places.
