Bhubaneswar, June 12 -- As many as 719 doctors succumbed to Covid-19 in the line of duty during the second wave of the pandemic. The data was shared by the Indian Medical Association in its latest report.

As per the report, maximum 111 doctors lost their lives in Bihar followed by 109 doctors in Delhi. This was followed by 79 doctors in Uttar Pradesh, 63 doctors in West Bengal and 39 in Jharkhand. Odisha lost 28 doctors to Covid-19 during the second wave. As per the data, COVID second wave has claimed most doctors between the age of 30 and 55 years.

These fatalities include resident doctors and doctors working as interns and some pregnant women doctors have also lost their lives in the line of duty. According to the IMA, a total of 1,46...
