Bhubaneswar, Dec. 25 -- A 32-year-old man died on Wednesday evening after falling into an uncovered drainage channel maintained by the Public Works Department (PWD) in Bolangir town. The incident occurred in the Jagannathpada area when the victim, identified as Birendra Naik, was returning home on a bicycle.

According to sources, Naik lost balance at a turning near the Pataneswari temple and fell into the open drain. He sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead after being rescued and shifted to the hospital by the town police.
