In a significant assurance to the Orissa High Court, the state government on Friday confirmed that the bone marrow transplant (BMT) unit at SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH), Cuttack, will resume soon. It will reportedly resume under the guidance of a retired expert acting as an honorary mentor.
The submission was made during the hearing of a petition seeking urgent revival of SCBMCH's haematology department, which has remained non-functional since the retirement of its chief transplant physician in February this year, reported The Times of India.
