In a renewed effort to tackle growing sanitation issues in the city, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has announced a structured penalty system targeting individuals and commercial establishments responsible for littering public spaces.

The move comes amid increasing public concerns about garbage mismanagement, choked drains, and deteriorating civic hygiene.

According to The New Indian Express, the civic body has approved a proposal to impose a Rs 100 fine on individuals found throwing garbage on roads, and Rs 200 on traders and shopkeepers violating cleanliness norms.
