Bhubaneswar, April 7 -- Bhubaneswar: After registering 500-plus cases for the last two days, the Covid-19 cases in Odisha saw a steep rise on Wednesday when 791 people tested positive for the infection and one patient succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, informed the State Information and Public Relations Department (I&PR) on Wednesday.

This is the highest single-day spike of coronavirus cases reported this year. The State had last posted over 700 cases on November 25, 2020 when 730 people had tested positive for the virus, 419 from quarantine and 311 local contacts.
