Bhubaneswar, Jan. 7 -- Whilecold wave continue to shatter normal life inOdisha, Jharsuguda town on Tuesday recorded 5.1degC, a record lowest temperature during January in the last 73 years.

Head of the regional IMD centre in Bhubaneswar, Manorama Mohanty, reportedly informed TOI that the last time Jharsuguda town recorded such a low temperature was in 1953.

On Wednesday, Jharsuguda recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 7.4 degrees Celsius while Keonjhar reported 9.2 degrees, Balasore recorded 11.2 degrees; Chandbali and Paradeep registered 12.4 degrees Celsius each.

Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 11.4 degrees Celsius today- a sharp drop of 7.2 degrees compared to the last three days.
