Bhubaneswar, Dec. 20 -- BJP National Vice-President and Member of Parliament Baijayant Panda arrived in Assam, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled two-day visit to the state, as the party steps up organisational and electoral preparations for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Panda, who has been reappointed as the Bharatiya Janata Party's election in-charge for Assam, received a warm welcome from senior state leaders and party functionaries upon his arrival.

Sources reported that on reaching Assam, Baijayant Panda was received by BJP Assam president Dilip Saikia, state organisation in-charge Harish Dwivedi, state minister Pijush Hazarika, and senior leader Kaushik Rai, among others.
