Bhubaneswar, Sept. 13 -- As anticipated on Sunday, Odisha's capital city Bhubaneswar has recorded the wettest September as it witnessed a rainfall of 195mm during the period between September 12 (8:30AM) and September 13 (8:30AM).

This reportedly is the highest downpour in a day in 63 years. Before this, it was in 9th September 1958, that Bhubaneswar had recorded a record rainfall of 163 mm in a single day. With 341mm rainfall in last 24 hours, Puri also has recorded the highest rainfall in a day in 87 years.

Astaranga area saw maximum 530mm rainfall, while Kakatpur witnessed 525mm rainfall, informed weather scientist Umashankar Das. Paradip has witnessed rainfall of 219mm during the period.
