Bhubaneswar, Nov. 24 -- Bhadrak Bhandaripokhari Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Sumati Sethi from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has alleged that her decision to apply for membership in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) triggered intimidation, an attack on her home, and threats to her life.

Sethi's complaint police states that the pressure began soon after she submitted the joining request. Sethi claimed that after she filed a formal application to join the BJP, certain individuals linked to the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) allegedly began insisting that she remain with the ruling party.

The complaint did not mention names, but claimed that multiple local functionaries tried to force her to withdraw her request during the past two days.
