Bhubaneswar, Dec. 24 -- A man allegedly murdered his wife in Bengaluru on Wednesday, just a week after she sent him a divorce notice. The man reportedly fired his wife, Bhuvaneshwari, four times after she returned home after work, and surrendered at a police station after the murder.

The victim was rushed to Shanbhog Hospital but succumbed to her injuries on the way.

The accused, identified as a 40-year-old man, Balamurugan, was a software engineer and worked in a private firm; he has been unemployed for the last four years.

Bhuvaneshwari, 39, was an assistant manager with Union Bank of India.
