Bhubaneswar, June 19 -- A newborn boy allegedly sold by his father for Rs 10,000 was rescued by Commissionerate police and Childline officials in the Capital City on Saturday.

Childline officials say the newborn baby of six days old will be kept at an adoption centre after his rescue from Mali Sahi area

"The father of the baby is a drug addict. Since his financial condition was bad, he refused to accept the baby and threatened his wife to abandon it as they have many children," said Childline Director Benudhar Senapati.
